Details
Vasilika Black has a deep red pulp with a rich berry flavor. It has a delicious jammy texture. Vasilika Black trees will have 5-lobed leaves with wavy edges. It is a common variety, not requiring wasp pollination to fruit. While the trees are vigorous growers, they are also known to do well in containers. Vasilika has many other appealing qualities: it roots easily, has good resistance to splitting, has a tight eye that protects from predators, and figs have good attachment with the ability to dry on the tree.
Vasilika Black is also known to be very productive. This is a mid-season variety that ripens beginning in September.There is some question as to whether Vasilika Black is the same fig as Vasilika Mavra. Both figs have names meaning “royal” and “black.” Photos of the trees and fruits show similarities. Try the delicious Royal Greek Fig that is widely grown in its homeland.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
