Sucrette can develop more or less berry flavor depending on the amount of sunshine during its final days on the tree. Ripening conditions are known to impact the flavor of this variety. Sucrette figs are early ripening and some northern growers have reported good cold hardiness, making this an ideal fig for those with short growing seasons. Sucrette trees will grow to medium size compared to other fig trees, and figs have the ability to dry on the tree.
Like many figs, there may be several varieties going by the name “Sucrette.” Sucrette figs have originated from growers from Europe to the US, including Baud, UC Davis, and Pons. While some have found similarities between the Baud and UC Davis Sucrette, the Pons variety seems to have some unique characteristics cold hardiness and an early breba crop. Still others compare Sucrette to the fig Cul Noir because of its similar black sugar spots. More growing is needed to solve the mystery of these cousin-figs.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
