Rigato Del Salento Fig
The Rigato del Salento (PB) fig is known for its beautiful green and yellow striped skin. The skin is relatively thick and covers a small, round fruit, about the size of a quarter. Take a bite and you will find a light red or yellow delicious pulp, although color can vary slightly due to climate. This fig is often compared to a variety called Panache, which is another striped fig. However, Rigato del Salento (PB) is said to be even sweeter, with little berry flavor, and a jammy/syrupy texture. Expect PB trees to bear mostly 5 lobed leaves.

Details
Rigato del Salento (PB) is an Italian bifera fig that produces both a breba crop and a main crop. That is good news for fig enthusiasts that hope to get their hands on tasty figs earlier in the season. It can also make for interesting comparisons between the two crops. The “PB” in this variety’s name indicates that it originally came from the farm of Paolo Belloni, and is not to be confused with several other types of Rigato del Salento varieties that each look and behave differently. Benefits of growing PB include two annual crops, good resistance to splitting during rainy periods, and very sweet fruits.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
