Details
Pastilliere figs have a round shape and the trees grow mostly 3- and 5-lobed leaves. Inside these medium sized fruits is a strawberry colored flesh. The trees are hardy, reliable, and productive. Pastilliere is ideal for people living in cooler climates with short growing seasons because it is early ripening. While it only produces 1 main crop, it is said to be productive.
There seem to be several different versions of Pastilliere out there. One version is said to have Japanese origins dating back to the 1800s, when it was brought to Europe and eventually spread throughout the rest of the fig-eating world. One commonality between many of the “Pastillieres” is that growers note the figs dropping from the trees during their first few seasons. Fig grower and educator, Ross Raddi, points to the tree’s upright growth that creates shade on this variety of figs that could lead to dropping. Calculated pruning of Pasteilliere trees may allow in the much-needed sunlight that keeps these figs ripening on the tree for longer.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
