Col de Dame Cuitat Fig
Col de Dame Cuitat is a fig from the island of Mallorca in the Balearic Islands. It was part of Montserrat Pons’ extensive collection of figs, and one of many Col de Dame varieties. This variety got its name from the island’s capital, City of Mallorca, which the locals simply called “city,” or Cuitat.

Some people have noted the differences between Cuitat and other Col de Dame varieties. Cuitat sometimes grows without the tell-tale long neck for which Col de Dame (lady’s neck) was named. Some growers have harvested pear shaped Cuitats while others have ripened figs with the signature long shape. Growers note that Cuitat’s skin is pleasant to eat as it is not as hard as that of other CdD varieties
Cuitat figs will have green and purple skin that is thick with web-like cracks. The figs are medium sized, and the trees are very productive. The red pulp has a thick texture and berry taste. Cuitat ripens from the end of September through early November, depending on climate, and has good resistance to rains. They transport well and do not have an open ostiole. Cuitat trees will have primarily 5-lobed leaves with some 3-lobed leaves.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
