Sangue Dolce Fig
Some have compared Sangue Dolce to Mt. Etna variety figs. Although the figs themselves may be small, this tree will ripen a lot of fruit, even at a young age, so there will be plenty of Sangue Dolce figs to go around. The figs, which contain visible seeds, are said to have a unique blueberry sweet flavor. Some have also tasted an acidic, citrus nectarine taste. Much depends on growing conditions so try this variety for yourself to see what flavors you are able to identify.

Sangue Dolce figs have a dark, dusty purple exterior and deep red interior. It is no wonder that founder, Dom, gave this fig the Italian name meaning “sweet blood.” It is said that Dom, a fig enthusiast and retired NYC detective, got this variety from overseas as an unknown. This variety has become more popular in the states because it is very productive and ripens early. Although it ripens early, it is best to wait until this variety is slightly shriveled to pick them to ensure optimum flavor. Sangue Dolce figs also have the ability to dry on the tree, so consider waiting until the figs are fully dry for a snack with concentrated delicious flavor.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
