Red Israel Fig
Red Israel fig trees are vigorous growers that put out 5 and 7 lobed leaves. The leaves are dark green, large, attractive, and uniform. This is a bifera variety that produces a medium yield. Subtle differences mark the breba and main crops. The main crop comprises large figs with prominent necks. Red Israel figs have open eyes, and are therefore suited to drier climates.

You may find that the Red Israel fig goes by many names including Khurtmani (as it is known in California) and Red Palestine. The variety is indeed from Israel and Palestine, where it is popularly grown. A thick, reddish skin covers these large figs that usually weigh in around 80 grams. Red Israel figs can have either an amber or light red pulp, depending on pollination and growing conditions. The flavor is described as honey, fruity, and sweet with a juicy texture.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
