Fig FAQ's, Tips and Policies

Hello and thank you for shopping with us.  We take great pride in our figs, their production, care and shipping.  We are confident you will love our service as much as the delicious fruit our trees produce for you.  Please be sure to read through all points below.  A link to this page is included in all shipments to ensure you have access to this information.

Placing Orders:

- Orders can be placed online.  Click here to view our entire fig cutting catalog where you can click on the variety you like, add it to the cart and checkout.  Since inventory is tied to our website, please place all orders on our site.  Phone orders are not a current option.  Note- our phone staff does not have information about each variety so they would be unable to answer questions.

- It should be assumed that all fig trees have been in contact with FMV(Fig Mosaic Virus).  We have had 0 issues with this and we would not offer any cuttings or rooted cuttings if there was any issue whatsoever.  We only sell high quality, reliable cuttings.  As most fig enthusiasts would agree, we do not consider FMV to be an issue that should cause anyone to be concerned.  If you have any concern about FMV, please do not make a purchase.  You will see a similar statement with most if not all other reliable online fig suppliers.  Refunds will not be offered for any FMV related inquiries.

- Since our prices are already competitive and in line with the current market prices, we cannot offer discounts.  This means we cannot honor any promotional coupon codes.  Our VIP customer code disclaimer states that they are not valid for fig cuttings, rooted cuttings or fig trees.  Promo codes will be voided if an attempt is made to redeem them on fig items.

Questions:

- We attempt to answer all questions but please read through the following to understand what we can and cannot answer.

- All available varieties are shown on our website.  If you do not see it, it is not currently available.  We add new varieties throughout the year.  Be sure to check back regularly to see our new additions.  We recommend joining our fig email list so you can receive updates.  Please refrain from emailing us asking if we have a variety that is not listed on our site.

- If an item is listed as out of stock online, please refrain from asking if we have any more.  We update the inventory on the site regularly.  If you are on our notification list, you will receive an email each time the inventory is updated.

- There is a seasonal date range shown on all fig pages.  This is our next available shipping window.  If a variety is marked out of stock, it will not become back in stock when that shipping window arrives.

- We do not offer variety recommendations.  What we do recommend is joining one or more of the online forums available.  This gives you access to fig enthusiasts who can provide guidance, tips and recommendations based on your growing zone and conditions.  Ourfigs is a great resource that we recommend.

- We do not offer growing tips or preferred methods.  We recommend having this discussion online in one of the fig forums since as OurFigs.

- We ship when your cuttings are ready.  Some varieties are ready sooner than others.  It is common for the date on your order confirmation email to pass before you receive your shipment. Please refrain from emailing us asking for a shipping update or eta for your shipment.  All varieties are shipped when ready.

Order Changes:

- Requested changes/combine requests:  This is a logistical challenge, but we are happy to fulfill your request for a fee of $5 per order.  Not all requests can be fulfilled if orders have already begun to ship.

Rooted Cuttings:

- Our rooted cutting season is typically April through June.  Your order will arrive any time during those months.  Your order may arrive in separate shipments.  We do not guarantee specific arrival dates.  Your order may arrive before or after the date you select at checkout.  We will email you tracking details once your order ships.  Please do not ask for updates, ETA's or specific delivery windows.

- Rooted cuttings are cuttings that we root for you.  They will arrive with leaves already showing and enough roots for the plant to thrive.

- Our rooted cuttings range from approximately 12"-22" including the pot.  Most are in the 14"-16" range.  The pot is 4 1/4" wide and 5 1/2" tall.

- Rooted cuttings will not be shipped until they reach an acceptable maturity level with enough substantial rooting to survive shipment and thrive.  We reserve the right to hold certain rooted cuttings back to ensure their safety resulting in a healthy plant for you. These plants may arrive at a later time than other plants in your order.

Non-Rooted Cuttings:

- Our cutting season is typically from November through March.  If they are available sooner, we will ship early.  We do not guarantee specific arrival dates.

- Cuttings are the most economical way to acquire new fig varieties but require the most work.

- Our cuttings will be a minimum of 8", with at least 3 nodes and will be thicker than a #2 pencil(many are sharpie thickness or greater).  Different varieties have different thicknesses.  All cuttings will arrive in rootable condition.

- Cuttings are not taken until sold.  This means your cutting will be freshly cut the day before shipment to ensure the highest quality.  We cannot cancel a cutting order after the cutting is made.

- When you receive your cutting(s), they will be in a sealed ziplock bag.  You can root them right away or if you'd prefer to wait, place the bag in your crisper drawer in the refrigerator.  They will be perfectly fine in there for several months til you are ready to root them.

Hardiness:

- Fig enthusiasts are a determined and creative bunch and able to successfully grow figs in surprising cold areas. A tree growing in a sheltered microclimate and protected in the Winter may do fine in zone 6 while the same variety might not make it through the Winter in zone 7 if it grows out in the open. For this reason, we do not believe in assigning hardiness zones to particular varieties. The varieties that we offer originate from all over the world, and while we encourage experimentation to see if they can successfully be grown outdoors year round in cold climates, growing them in containers and moving them to a protected area for the Winter is the best bet for assuring their survivability in areas with very cold Winters.  We use this technique to successfully grow all of the varieties that we offer in zone 7B.

Pricing:

- Our prices change throughout the year and are based on the current selling price through other channels.  It is common to see a variety sold at auction for far more than what we have it listed for on our site.  We do not offer refunds or adjustments if a price is lowered after a purchase is made.

Shipping/Charges:

- We ship UPS Ground as we have found UPS to be a much more reliable service to ensure your cuttings arrive in a timely manner and in great condition as expected. Should you need another method - please request. Yes, we will ship USPS to PO Boxes.

- If multiple orders are placed, we do not guarantee they will ship together.  Some varieties grow faster than others so we will ship them when ready.  You will receive an email for each shipment.  When your package arrives, the packing slip will show what is in your shipment with indication of what was held back.

- Please know our shipping fee encompasses the box, packing material, time and handling to ensure safe transport. The shipping charge for 1 rooted cutting is $20.  For each additional cutting, the charge is an additional $10 as each cutting is packaged individually.  There are no other fees.

- Standard non-rooted cuttings are shipped together in 1 box.  We can fit up to 20 cuttings in 1 box.  The flat rate charge for up to 20 cuttings is $13.

- We cannot be held responsible for any shipping delays caused by a shipping carrier.  Refunds cannot be requested due to problems with a shipping carrier.

- We ship to the entire continental United States(including California).  We do not ship outside the US.

Guarantee

- Since we do not have control over the conditions and several variables on the end user's side, we cannot guarantee all cuttings will take or grow.  It is widely known that even with a perfect cutting and the most trusted tactics, a cutting may still not take.  We have built a great reputation and are known for providing reliable, quality cuttings.  We do not offer refunds if they do not grow for you.

By placing your order with us, you acknowledge the above items and agree to all conditions.
