What are Willow Tree Figurines?

Susan Lordi, an artist based in Kansas City, Missouri, created Willow Tree figurines. She sculpts each original Willow Tree by hand using clay or wood. The statues are then hand painted using muted colors. The subject matter of her art includes men, women, children, animals, and flowers. Women are often shown in long, ivory or beige dresses and others are suited in khaki, light blue, or light green. Hair and skin tones are usually neutral colors. The sculptures are generally less than 6” high, making them perfect to sit on a desk, end table, or shelf. Their petite size invites the viewer to look at them up close. Copies of the originals are made from cured resin, and each is still hand-painted.

Susan Lordi’s art is inspired by nature and the outdoors, which is apparent in her organic forms, that lack harsh lines or a perfectionistic quality.
