Details
Peau Fine trees will produce a breba crop and main crop of medium sized figs. Inside is a colorful, bright red and amber pulp. The figs are early ripening, and a good choice for growers with short seasons. Main crops may begin to ripen in August depending on growing conditions. Peau Fine figs are said to have good resistance to spoiling, despite a slightly open eye.
While these trees are vigorous growers, they are slow to produce figs and have low productivity.
Some have recommended “pinching” this variety early to remove the terminal bud and stimulate lateral growth. Anything to get those figs growing! In addition to tasty figs, the trees produce interesting 5-lobed leaves with skinny “fingers” and very wavy margins. The leaves have an almost floral look to them. Some have described Peau Fine as a Smyrna type fig that originally comes from Ukraine. Today, it is most commonly known as part of Thierry’s collection at Figues du Monde in France.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
