Many figs ripen late in the season, so growers are always looking for that alternative that will give them great-tasting figs before the frost sets in. That’s where Noire de Barbentane comes in. Its flavor has been compared to tried and true figs like Black Madeira and Bourjasotte Noire, which are late figs. While NdB is still a late variety, it ripens markedly earlier than these other black figs. NdB is suited to handle many environmental factors that can thwart even the most careful fig growers; it has good rain resistance and even thrives in high humidity and extreme heat. While many have noted that the trees are late in breaking dormancy, they manage to produce sweet black figs earlier than some other popular varieties. The beautiful figs will ripen to a dark purple and black skin. Each fig is small and round, almost like a dark grape. The red pulp has a rich and intense berry flavor with a moderate seed crunch.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
