Details
Marseillaise figs have yellow skin and a round shape that allows them to shed water easily and resist splitting. They have a light red pulp with a complex flavor and fruity fragrance. Tasters have noted both brown sugar and fruity flavors like strawberry in this unique fig. Marseillaise is a dwarf variety of tree that is slow growing and bushy. Marseillaise figs are smaller in size, have closer node spacing, and ripen consistently all along the branches. The figs can easily dry on the tree and the tree also bears distinct leaves. Marseillaise trees will produce a breba crop in July and a main crop that ripens in September and October.
Marseillaise is a fig that was originally grown by famed-grower, Baud, in France. There are records of this fig dating back to the 1700s in France, but it may have been grown in the Mediterranean long before then. This heirloom variety made its way to Nevada City, CA in the late 1800s, where it was grown in Barren Hill Nursery. Fig lovers have been growing Marseillaise ever since for its high quality fruits, fruity scent, good attachment to the tree, and ability to shed water easily.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
