The Bari fig variety is a Mount Etna type fig originating from Bari, Italy and brought to the US by a member of the Military. Ties to the Willow Grove Naval Air Base in Pennsylvania. The Bari fig of the Mt. Etna type was named after the Italian town where it originated. The American mother tree of this variety, though, is actually located in the same town as Kremp Florist: Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. A serviceman stationed at the Willow Grove Naval Air Base brought the fig tree to the U.S. Although the tree was reportedly never protected, it has survived many Pennsylvania winters, showing its hardiness.

***Please be sure to read our Terms and Conditions before purchasing cuttings***
When do we ship cuttings?
We begin shipping cuttings once the trees are dormant and in storage. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in mid December. We continue to ship throughout the winter and early spring until the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
***ALL CUTTINGS WILL BE SHIPPED BETWEEN DECEMBER 15, 2020 AND MARCH 15, 2021 REGARDLESS OF THE DATE SELECTED DURING CHECKOUT***
Your cuttings will be cut to order to ensure freshness and provide the greatest chance of rooting success. Cuttings will be a minimum length of 8”, with at least 3 nodes, and will be thicker than a #2 pencil (many are sharpie thickness or greater). Our mother trees are stored in a climate-controlled environment to keep the trees dormant and healthy through the winter and early spring, and the cuttings are guaranteed to arrive in perfect, ready to root, condition.

Kremp Florist recommends this fig variety for its wonderful berry flavor and satisfying seed crunch. The fig is small-to-medium in size and has a purple/black exterior with a red interior flesh. The tree can be planted directly into the ground. Bari is perfect for experienced fig growers or newcomers who wish to sample the fresh fruit. Kremp Florist’s cuttings can be bought locally or shipped nationwide.
