Marot Fig
Marot is a French fig variety. “Marot” is actually a common surname in France that can be traced back for nearly a thousand years. The name originally belonged to aristocratic families who lived in the Normandy region during the Norman conquest of England. The surname Marot evolved from the name of the parish “Merriott” where they kept their houses.

The Marot fig grows on small trees with light colored wood and draped branches. The trees have 3-, 5-, and 7-lobed leaves. The variety is known to be very productive and very hardy. Marot has good resistance to humidity and rains. The variety tends to ripen early in the season, so it may be suitable for growers in colder climates.
Marot has an oval shape with a light yellow/green skin. It is a large fig, and you may see the ostiole on the side of the fig rather than the bottom. The red pulp is known to be juicy and sugary.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
