LSU Tiger Fig
The LSU Tiger fig gets its name from the tiger stripes that appear on its ripe, bright purple figs. Once the tiger stripes appear, you will want to let the figs ripen on the tree until the neck is slightly shriveled for optimum flavor. When you bite into LSU Tiger, you will get a mild fruity flavor with some sweetness and not much berry flavor. The firm pulp that fills the cavity with a light red color is satisfying to bite into!

One of the most notable characteristics of LSU Tiger is that it is a highly productive variety for those with short growing seasons. Tiger ripens just days later than Mt. Etna figs, and the variety is fast-growing in pots. The figs are round, without much of a neck. Their eye is more closed than comparable varieties, allowing them to stand up well to pests. Tigers are medium sized figs, that usually weigh around 30 grams or less. Their leaves are often 3-lobed in the beginning of the season, with more 5-lobed leaves appearing as the plant matures.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
