The pulp of LSU Late Black figs is red at the center and amber near the skin. The pulp has little to no seed crunch and a dark berry flavor. LSU Late Black figs are drop shaped and have marked ribbing. The figs are drop shaped, and grow on trees with 5- and 3-lobed leaves. LSU Late Black is a late ripening variety and is said to have a long shelf life. There is speculation that LSU Late Black is a synonym for some of the other dark LSU figs. However, when grown side by side, LSU Late Black has proven to be smaller, later ripening, and has a unique leaf pattern from other Louisiana figs.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
