Jolly Tiger is said to be the largest of the striped figs. The trees produce large brebas followed by smaller main crop figs that ripen mid season. The figs are drop shaped and are sweet and juicy. Jolly Tiger comes from Japan, and has been compared to other Japanese varieties like Panache. The variety is said to be a variegated leaf sport version of Masui Dauphine, which is one of the more popular commercial figs in Japan.
Some growers have noted that the variegation on the leaves is unstable, with all-green-leaf or all-white-leaf branches bouncing around the tree like a tiger. To encourage variegation, prune branches with only single color leaves.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
