Grosse de Monstreusse de Lipari figs have light green or yellow skin with splashes of chestnut brown coloring on some individuals. Inside the fruit is a bright red pulp with an intense berry flavor. Some have described the flavor as raspberry, but there is also a bit of acidity that gives Grosse de Monstreuse de Lipari a kick. The fig has a thicker skin and a good seed crunch.
This is a bifera variety, which produces both a breba and a main crop. Brebas will ripen as early as the end of July while the main fruits can be expected in mid-September, depending on climate. The main crop is said to have a considerably better flavor than the earlier brebas. The main crop figs are smaller, making for a wide range in size for this variety. Some figs weigh in at around 40 grams, while others have weighed as much as 70+ grams.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refridgerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
