The Evergreen State
Washington is sometimes called “the Evergreen State” because of its lush evergreens that keep their color year round. And even in its cities, Washington features some spectacular vegetation in locations like Discovery Park and Washington Park Arboretum.
Washington cities such as Portland are generally known for their rainy days. In fact, Seattle experiences an average of 152 rainy days a year. While that might spoil tourists’ plans, that can be good news for flowers and plants! Seattle is called “the Emerald City” conjuring up visions of Oz. In reality though, the city is home to plenty of trees, ferns, shrubs, and moss that thrive in all seasons with the Northwestern climate.
It is easy to see how these nicknames can inspire an emerald floral arrangement. Blooms that come in green include spider mums, button mums, alstroemeria, hypericum berries, roses, and hydrangeas. But foliage can be just as interesting as the flowers themselves. There are many types of premium foliage that can be included in your flower arrangement such as seeded eucalyptus, sword ferns, dusty miller, aspidistra leaves, ti leaves, and sago palms. The various types of greenery will have unique colors, textures, and levels of shininess that bring interest to the arrangement. This type of arrangement would make great birthday flowers.
Washington’s Famous Coffee
We know that Washington is rainy, so it only makes sense that a great cup of hot coffee would be appreciated in this state. The green and white logo depicting a mermaid is instantly recognizable as Starbucks, the world’s largest coffee chain. It first opened in Seattle in 1971, and now has 21,500 locations in 64 countries. The brand features a nautical theme as a nod to the Pacific Northwest; the name Starbucks is actually a reference from Herman Melville’s Moby Dick.
Coffee enthusiasts love the bit of energy they get from their favorite caffeinated drink. A flower delivery has the same ability to act as a pick-me-up to its recipient. Stick to bright color combinations like pink and green or yellow and purple for a get-well floral design. These complimentary colors will give your loved one something vibrant to look at. Typically cheery blooms include gerber daisies, daisy pom pons, sunflowers, and carnations, which come in plenty of beautiful hues.
Whether you wish to mimic Washington’s greenery, or want to brighten a friend’s day, Kremp Florist can get you on your way to sending your next flower delivery.
